Everyone who wants to breed their poultry and wants some idea of what they will produce should buy this book. It is readable, not dry, and also a nice size for carrying around.
Excellent book to learn basics of mating poultry. Simple enough for the beginner yet in depth for the more advanced student.
Ii don't really love it, but my granddaughter does! She is crazy about everything chickens and she is looking forward to trying her hand at breeding this year. She is 13 and said that was her best Christmas gift! It is very thorough and informative.
i found this book very helpful in breeding poultry unfortunately there are some important varieties and breeds missing
the information is drawn heavily from experienced breeders but because it is older is lacking genetics that a more modern breeder may relate to
the old time books are more useful for current day small producers than those written for the huge operations.
Great if you want some non-electronic reading material about raising and keeping chickens for breeding and eating.
